Resolution of the board of the Ministry of Agriculture of the Armenian SSR on the assignment to the director of the Research Institute of Soil Science and Agrochemistry of the Ministry of Agriculture of the Armenian SSR comrade. G.P. Petrosyan the title of Honored Scientist.

    G.P. Petrosyan made a significant contribution to the development of soil-agrochemical science, especially in the field of ameliorative soil science, with more than 25 years of research work. The result of his tireless scientific and organizational activity was the development, together with the team of meliorators of the Institute, of an original method for the chemical melioration of soda-saline soils using acidic industrial wastes and the development of measures for the agricultural development of reclaimed soils.

    Thanks to the indefatigable energy and high scientific competence of G.P. Petrosyan, for the first time in world practice, on large areas in Armenia, under production conditions, it became possible to carry out the radical amelioration of soda solonetzes-salt marshes. From small experimental plots, the proposed method, having received an industrial basis, has firmly entered the arsenal of reliable means to combat salinization. Thanks to a comprehensive solution to the problem, a complete technology for chemical reclamation and agricultural development of saline lands has been developed, which ensures the irrevocable restoration of soil fertility lost by G.P. Petrosyan. processes under the influence of excess salt content in the soil, issues of yield and product quality, including recommendations for the production of high-quality dessert wines. An economic analysis was carried out and the payback period for the capital investments spent on land reclamation was established.

    More than 85 titles of scientific works of G.P. Petrosyan clearly demonstrate the synthesis of theoretical studies and the originality of scientific ideas with their experimental confirmation and subsequent introduction into production.

    According to the works of G.P. Petrosyan, which are distinguished by deep theoretical validity, clarity and clarity of competent presentation, one can trace all stages of scientific research from studying the issues of the genesis of soda salinization to developing methods for chemical reclamation and features of agricultural development of reclaimed soils.

    The successful solution of this problem is of great national economic importance not only for Armenia, but also for all regions of soda salinity. This is what can make the visit to the experimental station of the Institute of the predominant number of land reclamators of the country and more than 500 specialists from 35 foreign countries lazy. The recognition of the developed method of development of saline lands was the holding at the Institute of the International Symposium on the issues of melioration of soils with soda salinity. The importance of the problem is evidenced by such publications in the newspapers "Pravda" and "Selskaya Zhizn" about the work of the institute in the development of saline soils.

    Achievements of the Soviet land reclamation science comrade. G.P. Petrosyan successfully presents at the Republican Union and International congresses: symposiums and meetings.

    In 1971 Comrade. Petrosyan G.P. He is a scientific consultant of the Research Institute of Soil Science of the Academy of Sciences of Cuba, for active scientific assistance and training of personnel he was awarded the Big Gold Medal of the Academy of Sciences of Cuba, for the development of scientific relations he was elected an Honorary Member of the NTO of Czechoslovakia and Vice-President of the Commission on Salt Soils of the International Society of Soil Scientists.

    A characteristic feature of G.P. Petrosyan is his great ability and ability to put forward and successfully solve major theoretical problems of agricultural science and production with the involvement of specialists from related branches of science. Everything that concerns the development of science and assistance to production for G.P. Petrosyan is the main and decisive one.      

    Being more than 15 years the chairman of the Presidium of the NTO of Agriculture of the Armenian SSR, comrade. Petrosyan G.P. skillfully mobilizes the scientific forces of the institute to solve urgent production and scientific problems of agriculture, is the initiator of the organization of social: postgraduate studies at the scientific scientific and technological organization of agriculture of the republic, the introduction of intensive palmet gardens into production, the design of high-performance instruments and equipment for zonal agrochemical laboratories,

    Comrade Petrosyan G.P. persistently and consistently uses all available forms of social influence for the successful introduction of scientific achievements into production. Systematically acts as the initiator and organizer of republican, union and international symposiums and meetings.

His indefatigable energy and scientific and practical activity earned him well-deserved respect and business authority. His merits have been repeatedly awarded the highest government awards.

Taking into account the great merits of G.P. Petrosyan in the development of soil and reclamation science, the development and introduction into production of a new method of chemical reclamation of soda-saline soils, the steady implementation of the tasks put forward by the directive bodies of the republic, to ask the Supreme Council of the Armenian SSR to award the Director of the Research Institute of Soil Science and Agrochemistry of the Ministry of Agriculture of the ArmSSR Grant Petrosovich Petrosyan the title of Honored Scientist.
